Bluehost is one of the oldest web hosting services on the market. It is affordable, easy to use even for beginners, and you get the advantage of experienced business, that has grown according to the needs of its users.
Pricing
Prices start at $2.95 per month for the Basic plan which is great for beginners or users who only need one simple website, such as a blog. All other plans include unlimited websites and SSD storage. If you want domain protection and site backup, you’ll need their Choice Plus plan, which costs $5.45 per month. Finally, to have your dedicated IP, you’ll need the Pro plan, priced at $13.95 per month. All plans include a free SSL certificate, unlimited bandwidth, and free email.
Pros
- Amazing 24/7 customer support through live chat. You can forget about waiting on the phone or worrying about the costs of international costs. Their live chat is available 24/7. Despite them telling you it might take up to 15 minutes before you are connected with someone, I never had to wait longer than 5 minutes. The best thing: they always know what to do and don’t stop until they fix your problem.

Hostgator is a newer provider on the web hosting market, but one that is quickly becoming everyone’s favorite.
Pricing
Their pricing tiers are slightly different than those of Bluehost – they are divided into WordPress hosting, VPS hosting and dedicated hosting. For WordPress, the cheapest plan is $5.95 per month for 1 site and goes up to $9.95 per month for 3 sites. Only one free domain is included.
For VPS hosting, prices start at $29.95 per month for 2GB RAM, 2 cores CPU, 120 GB disk space, and 1.5 TB bandwidth and go up to 4$49.95 per month for 8 GB RAM, 4 cores CPU, 240 GB disk space, and 3 TB bandwidth.
Finally, for their dedicated hosting prices start $118.99 and go up to $149.98 per month.
Pros
- Many hosting plans to choose from.
- Integrated migration services, no matter which host you are transferring from.
- Fantastic customer support, both via live chat and phone.
Cons
- Very few options for shared hosting plans.
- Fewer features in each shared hosting plans as compared to other services.
Dreamhost
Considered a great choice for more expert website owners, Dreamhost comes with a wide variety of hosting options. Recently, it also introduced a fantastic WordPress website builder, making it a great option for beginners as well.
Pricing
Their plans for shared and WordPress hosting start at $2.59 per month. If you want high performance, with isolated resources and more control over the backend of your site, their Power plan is perfect for you and it costs only $27.50 per month.

- Staging features for WordPress websites, perfect for developers who need to show demos to their clients.
- Strong security for each website.
- Unlimited data transfer.
Cons
- Harder to reach someone from customer support.
- No Windows-based servers. Beginners who just want a simple website might not be bothered by this, but for more experienced web developers, this could be an issue.
Liquid Web
For the true experts, that want managed plans, VPS, and dedicated hosting, Liquid Web might just be the ideal choice.
It is great if you know what you are doing.
Pricing
For managed WordPress hosting, their plans start at $29 per month for 1 site, while their business plan, which includes 25 websites costs $149 per month. It is more expensive than all other hosting services but let’s not forget we are talking about managed not shared hosting. This means more speed, security, and privacy for your website.
Pros
- Probably the best customer support out there. You get to talk to someone almost immediately and you can be certain they will solve your hosting-related issues.
- A lot of options for VPS, cloud, and reseller packages.
- High speed and 100% uptime guarantee. I’m sure malfunctions can happen, but I have yet to meet someone who says their website hosted on Liquid Web was down because of the company’s issues.
Cons
- No shared hosting plans. While managed and dedicated hosting has amazing advantages, most simple websites like blogs, business, or small shops can do great on shared hosting.
- High prices, even for dedicated hosting.
WP Engine
Some argue this is the best option for WordPress hosting. I admit it is a great option, but it does have some cons that are hard to overlook, depending on your needs.
Pricing
I won’t like, WP Engine is expensive. Their startup plan that they recommend for small websites such as blogs starts at $29 per month. The good thing is that when you sign up you get 2 months free. But in the long run, you’re still spending much more than you would with other hosting services. Also, you only get local storage of 10GB and 50GB bandwidth. For 5+ websites and 20GB storage, you’ll need to pay $95 per month, while for 15+ websites and 30GB local storage the price is $241 per month.
Pros
- Great security with real-time threat detection.
- Staging area perfect for developers.
- Integrated SSL certificates for each website.
- Great, fast customer services (but not for everyone – see below).
Cons
- Limited customer support for those on the startup plan.
- No free email services included.
- Expensive.

When choosing yours, don’t forget to carefully look at all their options and everything included in each. The highest price doesn’t always mean the highest quality.
